However it is important to understand that the performance of  holder is directly related to the life of carbon brush. There are certain tips for proper maintenance of holder which if used proper can reap good results.

First tip can be to have a good eye on springs. As springs is a part that breakdowns regularly but spring is also that important part which connects carbon brush with contact surface. Broken springs affect the life of carbon brush therefore it is important to check them regularly.

Secondly it is also important to check closely while replacing the carbon brush. Mostly it is observed that people ignore checking the holder however it is the possibility that holder might be damaged or there might be some deposits there hindering the movement of the brush.

Thirdly it is necessary to check holder for corrosion.
